Sat 8/30

We had a great morning bite with lots of action. Shorts and keepers coming in constantly and we had one of the best days of this year for total number of keepers. John Mundjer took his limit out of  the seven he caught while John Doll and daughter Cortney combined for 8 keepers.  In the afternoon the south wind kicked up and so did the seas with the tide against it. We were the only boat to go back out to the morning area  to pick away at the fish though not as good as the morning. Pat Lamb took the pool with one of his two beauties he caught. Forgot the camera so will post the pics tomorrow. Hope to see you soon.

Thurs -Fri reports

Had good fishing both trips on Friday with lots of shorts and a good amount of keepers in the mix. We fished in the nice ocean despite what the weather people were saying about large ground swells and rip tides which absolutely do not affect  us away from the beach. Jungmin Lee, no relation to other Lees  that fish on the boat, took the pool on the PM trip with a 6 lber beating out a 5 1/2 lber. Thurs morning we had to go north to get away from the flood tide against the Northerly winds. Once the current eased off we went back to the channel and had a good bite with lots of shorts but not as many keepers as we would have liked but Jong-Kyu Park did get 3 keepers. In the afternoon we again had to wait for the current so slow down but ended up with a good bite on the last 2 drifts. Here are some pics. We are still sailing 2 trips daily.

Tues Weds 8/26 & 27 - 12 lbs of fluke

Caught some nice fish along with a good pick of shorts in the morning  on Tues with Steven Goetz of High Bridge catching a 7 lb pool winner along with his 5 lber.  In the afternoon the wind came up so we retreated back to the bay with a pick of shorts but only a few keepers. A nice morning  on Weds let us get back to the channel a nd had a good pick of shorts but not as many keepers as Tues.  Again the wind came up in the afternoon that made it a little uncomfortable in the ocean but we still managed  picking shorts and keepers with Bob Stevens taking the afternoon pool. Here are some pics not including Bob's.

Fri thru Mon 8/25

We have had to many days of no drift with wind against the tide especially in the morning. The ocean has also been a little too rolly to fish but we have been getting out there the last two days. Unfortunately some patrons can not take it so we try not to stay out there too long. Looks like its calming down so we will try to go out there again. Highlight of the week was Roger Lee catching  a 8 1/2 lber on Sunday and we are see more keepers spread around the boat with short action. Steve O'Donnell of Colonia took the pool with a 5 lber in the morning on Mon.  Matthew and Dominick Paniconi took it on the afternoon trip with a 4 lber. Here are some pics of the past few days.

Thurs 8/21

We headed out to where we have been catching some in the ocean but we only picked at them in the morning with just a few keepers and fair pick of shorts. Still a a swell from the easterly winds that may have affected the fishing. The afternoon trip was much better even though the drift was on the fast side. Good pick of shorts and a good amount of keepers with Roger Lee taking the pool on both trips and Johnathan Harmon limiting out with 5 keepers. Here are a few pics.

Tues - Weds 8/19 &20

Tuesday morning headed out to where we caught them on Monday afternoon but had much different conditions with Easterly winds of 15  plus mph so it got a little rolly though it did help slow the drift down. Picked at some fish but not good so we headed back to the bay but not a good morning catch. In the afternoon we started in the bay till the current slowed down in the ocean since the wind and tide were together. Picked at some shorts and keepers and then headed outside to catch the end of tide and got a good shot of fish. John Mundjer with  a couple of beauties including the pool.  Weds  morning did the ame thing with less wind so we stayed in the ocean most of the morning although a couple of patrons were not up to the rocking. Lots of action with shorts and some keepers mixed in. Victor Arnao told me he caught 29 shorts and one keeper on the morning trip. In the afternoon we could not go back out there since it would have been too fast a drift so we made some long drifts and picked slowly but ended up ok with Victor catching the first keeper  of 6 3/4 lbs that held up for the pool. He also caught about ten more shorts and another keeper. Nick Ricciteloi was close with a  6 lber and also pictured is Carolyn Jacob of the Leisure Knoll fishing club  with a couple of  nice fish. Next couple of days we should have lighter crowds with the cloudy slight chance of a shower forecast but we will be going out. Here are some pics including a young man with his first ever fish.

Monday 8/18

Nice weather and a nice group of fishermen and women made it an enjoyable morning. Picked at shorts and keepers mixed in with one group of 4 catching 5 keepers and some other singles ad doubles around the boat. Walter Riveley of Colonia took the pool with a 7 1/4 lber but being short handed we did not get his pic. On the afternoon trip we went around the hook for the first time in a long time and found a  batch of shorts and nice keepers. More action  and keepers then the morning with John Nelson taking the pool with his 6 1/2 lber. He and his wife Linda combined for 3 and a cow nose ray that she fought around the boat for ten minutes. Danny Wong  had 3 nice keepers to 6 lbs  plus a lot of shorts. Nice weather this week so hope to see you. Here are only a few pics as we got very busy.

Weekend report

We had a very good turnout on Saturday morning and knew it would be quite a job to catch enough fish for  the crowd.  We did manage catch shorts and keepers despite (again) the wind against tide situation. For example John Doll caught 4 keepers for high hook and  and several others had one or two keepers and decent short action. The afternoon the opposite conditions with wind and tide together it got too fast but was still ok fishing. Sunday the same conditions but very few keepers in the morning but ending with a good afternoon bite as the conditions were favorable. In fact someone called in the morning to ask how the fishing was and I told him not good but should be better in the afternoon

, but they never showed up. Here are some pics.

Tues to Friday 8/15

After Monday's good fishing we had a storm that night with a lot of rain which knocked out the fishing until Friday morning.  Finally the fish started to cooperate and we picked away despite a slow wind against tide drift. Pat Lamb got the first keeper and another beauty later on. Karissa De Santis though, was high hook and pool winner with three nice fish. Other keepers and a decent pick of shorts around the boat made it sa nice morning. The afternoon the wind combined with the current to make the drift a little too fast. We did still catch fish better than we did Tues through Thurs. Hopefully the fishing will hold up now and hope to see you soon. Here are a few pics including a young lady who would have been the pool winner the other day had she been in it.

Monday 8/11 Big fish 9 lb 6 oz

Another nice day so we headed back to where we had fish the day before. Started out with a very slow drift, change of tide, but then started  moving out but the opposite wind also picked up. We did get one good drift in before the wind stopped us. It was enough to give us a good catch including a 9 lb 6 oz doormat  by Woody Harmon of Middletown who also had two other keepers. On the afternoon trip we started in the bay waiting for tide to change and caught a few keeprs and numerous shorts before heading out to the morning area. Picked away on one long drift and boated another beauty of 6 lb 9 oz by Greg Gibbs of Clifton.  Here are some pics  and it looks like this morning will be ok but not sure if there will be a turn out for the afternoon with the forecast.
