Last couple of days

Fishing was not up to par last couple of days catching shorts and a few keepers but no amount despite some other reports. Conditions did not help with wind against tide and a a very slow drift. Therefore did not take any pics since the fish we did catch we only a few lbs. This morning a young pretty girl did catch 2 keepers including the pool fish so it shows you don't have to be an experienced fisher person to win the pool and be high hook. Her boy friend also got a keeper to add to their catch and came in a close second. Here is their pic and just a note that we will try to get out tomorrow morning but not the afternoon with the weather forecast.

5/29 Better late then never - our biggest

We had a very nice turnout on the morning trip but not very nice conditions with wind against the tide and therefore not much drift. Picked slowly at some shorts and a few keepers and then did some looking around trying different spots and depths. Couple here and there but John Mundjer did pull out the pool fish of about 5 lbs on the last drift.  On the afternoon trip the wind picked up against the opposite tide AGAIN, but was enough to move us along. Made a few drifts picking shorts and a few keepers  ( fluke of course)  with Dennis McGinnis landing a 7 1/4 lber. It held up for a while until Johnathan Seminerio Of Wayne landed an 8 1/2 lber to take the pool. John called earlier in the day about the fishing and I told him the way it was but he decided to come anyway just making the boat. A few other nice fish were also boated that made the afternoon better then the morning. Here are a few pics of the catch, hope to see you soon though the weather is not looking good for Monday so we will only try for the morning trip.

Thurs 5/28 No rain or T storms again !

Weatherman screwed up again forecasting showers and possible T storms. It turned out nicer than Weds because of  less wind.  So here it is, unless it is actually pouring out or very windy come on down and have lots of room on the boat ( we fished one side both trips). We are primarily fishing the bays so we can go out in almost any weather. Was not fast fishing but we caught shorts and keepers on both trips, including a couple of nice ones in the 6 lb range. Even Howard from Oakland N J caught a keeper with Fred taking the pool in the morning and Danny in the afternoon. Here are a few pics

5/27 Another wrong forecast

Was a nice morning weatherwise despite the forecast but we had tough fishing catching a few keepers and shorts. Dustin did manage 2 keepers and the pool fish of 6 lbs and we tried many different spots. On the afternoon trip the increasing winds hampered where we could fish but again catching a few keeps and shorts. tomorrow the morning looks ok but not sure about the afternoon but we will be there to see who shows up. Maybe see you then.

Tues 5/26 Nice day

Very nice weather today but in the morning we were disappointed with the fishing that we left yesterday. Saw all the boats going to try different areas so it was not just us. We did catch a few keepers but not good and the short action was not there. On the afternoon trip there was an improvement and we caught twice as many keepers with half the fishermen with a couple of anglers with 2 keepers and a 6 lb pool fish but still not good. We will see what happens tomorrow and the weather does not sound bad so hope to see you then. Here are some pics and sorry corona Bob you didn't get in the pictures.

5/25 Another nice day

Went out to where we had some fish in the afternoon before and of course other boats were there. Did not move much with the change of tide but we did pick some keepers and throwbacks. Worked the area through the change of tide and then ventured to other areas. Shorts and keepers around the boat with Rich O'Bryant catching two including the pool fish of 6 1/2 lbs. beating a couple of other close contenders.  The afternoon trip was a little slower but we did catch. Tommy Lorello took the pool honors from some close contenders also with a 6 lber. Here are some pics from both trips.

Sun 5/24 Another surprise

Had a good turnout this morning but of course we had bad conditions most of the morning. Picked a few shorts everywhere  we tried but only managed a few keepers ant the end. Will Mahoney took the pool with a 7 lb flattie and Roger Lee managed a couple of keepers but all at the end of the trip. There was an improvement in the afternoon in both weather and fishing. We had a 6 lb pool winner and a high hook of 4 keepers but not a lot of action. We did , however,  hook into a sturgeon which is very rare and of course we let it go. sounds like we did as good if not better than most of the party boats, but again it is not good fishing yet. I think everything will be late with the cold winter and slow warm up. Here are a few pics and hope to see you soon as this week looks like it will be nice.

Sat 5/23 Better with nice fish to 7 1/2 lbs

Had a nice morning picking at shorts and managing to capture a few nicer fish. John Mundjer with a 4 lber on one drift and then Steve Mills of Belmar on the next drift with a 7 1/2 lber but the picture does it no justice. We had more short action then yesterday with about 40 to 50  being caught.  The afternoon, however,  was not as good as we picked some shorts everywhere we went but keepers were hard to come by. Here are a few pics and hope to see you.

First Fluke trip 5/22

We made both trips n Friday with morning being much better with 15 mph winds from the west. Picked mostly shorts with a few keepers mixed in but nothing big with Mike Jackson catching the first keeper of the season. Where we like to start, the bug lite, was loaded with fish pots (traps) so we lost a few rigs and we had wind against the tide so we did not move good. Tried a few different areas to get the feel of whats around with little success. Not a bad start and almost what I expected with everything being late this year. On the afternoon trip the winds kicked into to 25 mph and over so we could only fish one area with a few shorts and we did settle the pool on the last drift. Here are a few pics and hope to see you soon. Sailing everyday including Monday, memorial day.
