Tues/Weds Not like Monday

Went out on Tuesday to the same areas we caught fish in but it did not happen. We did pick but not like the afternoon before and the drift was much slower and the day hotter. Nice size gang on the morning run and half as many on the afternoon. Again thinking maybe the different tide in the afternoon would make a difference but it didn't. Was ok but not like the afternoon before. By the way the afternoons have been much nicer than the mornings with a southerly breeze and tide with it for a nice drift. Today was the same thing with it getting hot by the end of the morning and having a cooler breeze in the afternoon. Some anglers managing 2 or 3 keepers while others only shorts. Here are a couple of pics and sorry bout Monday's pics that have vanished from the camera or on my computer.

Mon day 7/27 U missed it & go figure

For those of you that thought the day would not be nice you were totally wrong. Very nice morning with no wind and a small group of anglers who caught some nice fish. Unfortunately the pics got erased from the chip. One young man, Jarod at 13 years old ended up with a 5 1/2 & a 4lber along with a few shorts. Pool winner Julio Romain who has never fished on a boat before had 3  fish to 6 1/2 lbs. We also had other keepers but it seem the experienced fishermen did not fair as well as the first timers. On the afternoon trip we had very good fishing for the way its been and again people with rod rentals out caught some of the regulars. Daron from the Harborside Rest had 4 keepers and Nicole 3 keepers. Cindy Kennedy of
Gateway liquors and daughter Bridget combined for 3 keepers. Teacher Bob Sabo had 3 keepers and another good fishermen(won't mention his name) went home with none. Moral of the story is don't be afraid to change your ways and listen to your crew when the suggest changing rigs or baits and don't listen to the weather people.. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon.

Sun 7/26 Another 8

Had a nice morning picking away at shorts and a couple of keepers and then another 8 lber was landed by Fred who shouted at the fish, where were you yesterday( for the tournament). Almost got away when the second hook got stuck in the net but I got down quick enough to get another net on it. Kelly and some friends and or family were there to celebrate his birthday and they are pictured with a few keepers they caught. On the afternoon trip the winds kicked up but we still picked away at shorts but only a few keepers with Pat Lamb taking the pool. The rain should be over early today so come on down. Here are the pics.

Sat 7/25 What a drift !

Morning was slow with no drift where we started so we moved on and found one. Picked shorts and a few keeps  and then moved back to where we had a few he day before. Picked a few more but it really didn't pan out. Pool winner not much bigger then a keeper by Jong Kyu Park. On the afternoon trip we had a fantastic start with Paul Schukalo boating a 7 3/4 lb lunker and then later on a 5 lber. Vinne Batista also had 7 lber and Jay Pickin a 6 1/2 lber. Steve Goetz a 4 3/4 lb flattie and David Fruitbine  a 3 lber. A few other keepers and a decent pick of shorts. Here a some pics including this little guy with his first and part of the catch.

Fred Friday 7/24

Another very nice day but not the turnout we had the last two Fridays. Picked away at shorts and few keeps then moved on to another area where we had more action and more keepers. Fred caught numerous shorts and four keepers to 6 1/2 lbs to take the pool. A nice showing of fish around the boat. On the afternoon trip it started out good but then shortly after we lost the drift. But Tom the vet did get 3 keepers with his pool fish of 5 1/2 lbs just beating Pete's 5 1/4 lber. Nice couple of days coming up so come on down. Here are a few pics.

Thursday another beauty

Another beautiful day on the water with less wind as we picked shorts and a few keepers but not as active as yesterday. Roger Lee took the pool with one of his two keepers in the morning and our condolences to him and his family on the passing of his mom.  On the afternoon trip Bob Sabo got the first bigger fish of almost 5 lbs to be beaten by John Porzio who caught one almost 6 lbs. Here are a few pics and hope to see you. Thanks for looking in.

Tues/Weds reports

Weather was not bad Tuesday and we had a decent turnout in the morning but the weatherman scared the patrons off in the afternoon. Not many keepers and picked at shorts with the slow drift. On Weds we had a good breeze to  push us along but it did cause us to roll a little. Picked away with quite a few shorts and a better amount of keepers around the boat.. "Doc" got the pool in the morning and ended with 2 keepers. Fred stayed all day and caught over 30 shorts and 3 keepers. So over all good action and the weather the rest of the week looks very nice. Hope to see you and here are some pics.

Finally again - 10lb 8oz doormat

Well we finally got a double digit fluke by Bill Bergen which must have been the baby sitter since we were only picking shorts at the time. Slow morning as far as keepers but decent short action. We did better in the afternoon  with better drifting conditions. At least there was a little breeze all day until late in the afternoon that kept it bearable. Here are a couple of pics including one of how calm it was with bunkers all over the top,  so hope to see you and thanks for looking in.

Sunday 7/19 Finally !

It was a hot one on Sunday especially in the morning with no wind and a big gang on board.  Picked  some fish in the usual areas and then Tom C caught his first keeper in over a year of catching  all shorts.  He decided to make the second trip in the afternoon and guess what? He lands a 6 lb beauty to win the pool. He is pictured with his buddy Joe C. Also pictured are these young men with their catch  that came in second. Another hot one today but hopefully we will get the southerly winds in the afternoon again to cool things off. Hope to see you and thanks for looking in.

Saturday 7/18

We had a better turn than expected  with the weather forecast and made the best of the day. Missed most of the heavy rain by staying south of it and picked shorts and some keepers as Pat Lamb landed a 7 1/4 lb doormat almost getting beat by James Mandeville with his 6 3/4 lber. on the morning trip. The afternoon turned out nicer but got hot when the sun came out. With very slow drifting conditions we did manage shorts and keepers up to Dave Sylvester's 5 lb 10oz pool fish. Today looks like a cooker but hopefully will be cooler on the water. Here are some pics and thanks for checking in.

Friday 7/17 More nice fish

Had another good Friday turnout maybe because of the impending weather for Saturday. The morning stared off very nice but then the southerly winds came up.  We are still fishing in the bay within 30 minutes of the dock picking mostly shorts with  a few keepers mixed in and some nicer fish like the 6 1/2 lb pool winner by Poao Pereira of Newark in the morning and 6 lb winner by Wayne Turner(3keepers) in the afternoon. Tom the vet also had 3 keepers. Here are a few pics and we are sailing today despite the t storm forecast.

Weds/Thurs status quo

Only got out on the morning trip on Weds with the forecast nobody showed for the afternoon.  Picked shorts and some keepers with a few nice fish mixed in. Thursday was very nice except for the winds but we had a bay to fish and had a nice turnout since the Belmar boats didn't get out. Picked shorts and few keepers on a long drift in the bay then tried out a little further to find no drift and a roll that was a little uncomfortable. Went back to our bay only to lose the drift there too. We did end up with a 7 3/4 lb pool winner amongst the other keepers including one Ted finally got.. The afternoon was nicer as the winds died out and worked  other areas. 6 1/2 lb winner in the afternoon. Here are the pics so hope to see you soon and thanks for checking in.

Mon/Tues reports - more nice fish

On Monday morning Bob Caputo with one of his two beauties ( I think 6 1/2lbs), but fishing was not as good as Sunday. The afternoon proved to be even tougher with the southerly winds kicking up but we did manage a few keepers among the shorts. On Tuesday the weatherman scared the people (fished one side both trips)  by the t storm forecast (got none) only a shower in the morning, Jonathan Harmon showed up his old man Woody by nailing a 7 3/4 lb pool winner and a 5 lber. His dad also got 2 nice fish but not as big. On the afternoon trip it rained for about and hour after we stared fishing but turned nice later on. After catching only a few shorts  in a couple of places we nailed 3 beauties at once with Kim getting a 5 lber and Greg a 7 1/4 lber. Picked a some shorts and a few more keepers after that. Here are the pics. Sailing every day rain or shine as long as enough show up.
