Looks like the weather will be a little too cold and windy for tomorow so that will put the squash on our season. Hope to see some of you in late March or early April for winter flounder or ling and then striped bass, depending on what happens. Have a good winter and stay warm and heathy. Captain Hal and crew.

Past weekend report 1/6 - 1/8 2012

We will try to sail this morning Weds 1/11 but looks the next trip wont be until Sat 1/14 and that will be our last trip with the the colder weather coming. Last Friday was a good trip, with just a few anglers on board we caught a boat limit although now the limit is 4 blackfish per person. Saturday we had warm weather for this time of year but the seas were not as nice and of course with a decent crowd the fish did not cooperate. Sunday the seas laid down and they turned on again and we had close to a boat limit with Jersey boys Ken Fraiman , Dave Fernandes and Jimmy Lee catching their limit and passing the others to anglers who did not do as well. If the tog do not cooperate we can go off and try for ling as we do have clams on board. Hope to see you and if not have a safe and healthy year and see you in the spring. Hi everyone and Happy New Year. We did not get out today with the high wind forecast and will not resume our schedule until Thursday. Fishing the last couple of days has not been up to par despite the warmer temps and nice days. Hopefully this next cold snap will get them going. Hope to see you towards the end of the week.

Sunday, Jan 1 (New Years Day)

We are planning on fishing up to and including Sunday, Jan 8th, but may extend the season longer if the weather and the fishing remains favorable.

Sunday and Monday 12/18 & 19 report

Had good fishing the last two days with quite a few limits. Despite the cold on Saturday little Laurie (the cheese lady) took her limit out of 8 keepers and her brother Cary got his limit along with 11 shorts. Monday was even better as we got close to a boat limit and both days we fished one drop. Pool fish have been around 7 to 8 lbs with decent short action. Unfortunatly we we didnt have enough to sail today and tomorow looks questionable with the rain forcast and not enough showing up. Call ahead of you are not sure of the weather and hope to see you soon.

Here are some pictures from Sat 12/10 Brad Weaver of S Bound Brook who had 4 keepers, Hank Stok of Elberon with 3 keepers, Doug kay of Union Beach and Pool winner Ken Jorgensen of Hazlet. Sunday was a little better with the number of keepers and pool winner Jim Lee of Ft Lee had an 8 lber. Monday was better yet with over 60 keepers and Rodger Lee (no relation) taking the pool with a 7 lber.

Had good fishing today with cold but beautiful weeather and a flat ocean. Had a few limits plus and everyone went home with keepers. The last two days were decent but we had to put in some extra time. I will have a more detailed report with pictures tomorow morning. The next two days look good weather wise so come on down.

Sunday -Monday 12/4 & 12/5 report

Had good fishing on both days but not as good as the limit out catch of Saturday. We are also seeing some bigger fish mixed in but less short action on Monday. Carmine Tango and Garret V. of New Brunswick combined for 6 keepers to 6 lbs, John Johanson of Flanders took his limit out of 9 keepers with 3 over 6 lbs, John D'Agostino of Mt. Arlington had 4 keepers to 8 1/2 lbs that was the pool fish, Kevin and Rick combined for 8 keepers to 5 lbs and mate Earl Farwell had 5 keepers to 5 lbs on his day off. Here are some pictures from the last 2 days. Hope to see you soon but again watch the weather this time of year as not enough show up on rainy days and we dont sail if winds more than 25 mph.

Hi everybody, haven't posted in a while but here is the scoop. Last week from turkey day to Sunday the weather was great but the fishing was not unfortunately. It seems to be getting better but as with any fishing, especially black fishing, the more experienced fishermen do much better. As we get some colder weather we are hoping it will get better yet. Today we had a good catch with a small group, especially for a nice Saturday, but they happen to be fishermen that have done this before. Here are some pictures form the past week including today. Get ready cause the blackfish season opens tomorow on the 16 th. You will now be able to keep 6 at 14 inches rather than just one. Had good fishing the last 2 days with a good number of both keepers and shorts. We certainly hope it holds up after the season opens. We are now providing green crabs and clams for bait. Thurs 11/3 Limited out with Stripers

Hi everyone, I have not posted lately but have not been out lately since last Tues. We finally had a few patrons show up today and I'm sure they were glad they did. Besides the good size roll it was a nice day for November. We started with a slow steady pick on keepers and shorts and stayed with it. It got slowly better but the since we didn't spend time looking around we ended up with a great catch of 31 keepers and more than that in shorts. John Doll of N. Middletown was high hook taking his limit out of 4 keepers and 7 shorts. Here are some pictures of some happy anglers including Bill Bergen who is holding his imaginary keeper since he only had a few shorts but had a great time.

Starting Friday, Nov 11, we will be switching to bottom fishing for black sea bass and blackfish. Please be advised that the blackfish keeper limit increases from 1 fish at 14" to 6 fish at 14" on Nov 16. Black sea bass keeper limit is 25 fish at 12.5".

We decided to go out with just a few figuring the bite would be on after the last two windy and rough days. Well at first we were disappointed as I caught the first and only keeper on a dead stick. Made a couple of moves in the same area and after the tide change we got a little bite going. Denise Mendve of Sparta caught her first keeper striper and what a keeper at 45 inches and over 30 lbs. She ended up with 3 keepers including her bonus tag fish. John Mancini of Elizabeth, also caught his first striper after 25 years of fishing but it was a short. He did manage a keeper later on and everyone had a good time despite the cool wind and a little rolling around. Here are some pictures from today.

Monday Oct. 17 Stripers

Well we decided to switch to striped bass with the limitations on the bottom fish and to a 3/4 day schedule leaving at 7:30 am. With just a few anglers on board we had a steady pick on the fish once we got to the right spot. Bob Griffen of Watchung was high hook with 5 keepers and everyone went home with fish. We will be staying on the stripers till early Nov. Here are some pictures.

Upcoming Schedule Changes

We're approaching the time of year where we transition to our 3/4 day schedule. Starting Oct 17th, our weekday schedule (Mon - Fri) will change to one 3/4 day trip daily, 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM. Our weekend schedule may remain 1/2 day or may change to 3/4 day based upon the quality of the fishing. We will update you as soon as Captain Hal makes his decision.

We have had some good days and some not so good days that were usually due to the strong new moon currents. For a few days we had very good fishing in the bay but it didnt last long. Unfortunatly the sea bass season is still closed to Nov. 1 so we have had to throw back some nice ones. We are still fishing relativly close about 40 min out between the channels and the crowds have been very light during the week so pick the nicer days and if you are coming in the morning try to get there by 7 : 30 am so if we dont have enough to go we can put you one another boat. We will be changing to 3/4 day on week days in a couple of weeks so call ahead. Will post some pictures tomorow. Thanks for checking in.

Sorry I have'nt posted in a while but was busy getting ready for the change over from fluke to bottom fishing. Here are some of the past week's catches including the last fluke trip where Marilynn Rheingold caught her pool fish of 5 lb 10 ozs and a nice group photo of that morning. Also are pictures of some of the nice size porgies we caught over the weekend. Tuesdays trips were not as productive due to the strong new moon currents. We are starting to have a little better fishing the last couple of mornings with nice weather and the water clearing up though very few people are showing up. The afternoons have not been as good with south winds picking up. Tues afternoon though Edward Somers of Middletown did managed 2 nice 5 lbers of the few we caught. Weds morning we had good short action with Bob Tortorete of Middletown managing 4 nice keepers up to 5 1/4 lbs that took the pool. Bill Lankenau of Denville was in close running with his one keeper a 5 lber. Weds afternoon Lizette Hansen of Staten Island won the pool with her first fluke ever, a 4 lber , and her first time on a party boat. This goes to show you that you never know who will win the pool. We will stay with the fluke till the last day of the season so hope to see you soon.

No pictures with this report as the few fish we are catching are just keepers or tiny ones. We are still trying to stay with the fluke but not sure if we can make it to the end of the fluke season. The only other option we have at this time is to fish for porgies since the sea bass season is closed till Nov. If you try to call the main number you may hear alot of static but we are trying to resolve this AGAIN with the phone company. Thanks for checking in.

Sorry we fell behind in the posts this past week but the fishing got tough. We haven't had much to report. Catching just a handful of keepers most trips with a few shorts and plenty of sea robins at times. The best of it seems to be in the bay as the fish that were out in the ocean were chased out by Irene. We managed a couple of nicer fish yesterday with Gabe Burns of Hazlet taking the pool with a 5 lb 5 oz fluke from Rose Gollus of Union Beach who had a 5 lb 4 oz fish. We are still sailing our daily schedule but watch the weather during the week now that Labor Day has passed. The rainy days will keep most people away. We will stay with the fluke as long as we can till the end of fluke season. Hope to see u soon.

Apologies on the delay posting, but we were without power until last night. We made it through Irene just fine, and are fishing our regular 1/2 day schedule: 2 trips daily, departing at 8 AM and 1:30 PM.

8/19 & 20 report

We have been fishing the deeper waters of the channels picking away at shorts and getting some nice keepers. Friday afternoon T J Cressy of Dunellen N J caught this nice 8.5 lber . Saturday A M John Doll of Middletown showing 2 of his 3 keepers and Jim Lee of Palasades Park with a couple of his keepers including the 6.2 lb pool fish. In the afternoon Jim came back out to get another pool with this 6.4 lber which just beat out Jaysen Jackson's of Matawan 6 lber. Dont forget to bring some heavier equiptment to fish the deeper waters where you may need ten or twelve ounces to hold bottom.

Sorry Johnney - John Mundjer of South River took the afternoon pool as well. I previously said Biff Pein ( spelled wrong in report also) came in a very close second for the afternoon pool. Have not been out since then with the lousey weather and nobody showing up to go out. We will see what happens today but it does not look good by the forecast.

Had good fishing both trips and good size groups which never go hand in hand . None of the boats made it out on Sunday with the heavy rain. Mike Veet of Middletown P A had 5 keepers to 3 lbs as did Marilyn Rheingold of Parlin had 5 to 5 lbs, John Mundjer of South River 5 keepers to over 8 lbs and the pool, and Dave Fernandez 4 keepers to 6 lbs. This was only some of the catches. In the afternoon Biff Pynes of New Brunswick took the pool with 4 other keepers.

We had some on and off trips depending on the conditions and where we can fish. When we could fish outside in the deeper channels we saw more action and some bigger fish. On Weds afternoon John Strozyk of Long Branch caught a nice 6 lber but lost a bigger one. Pete C of New Brunswick got one of our biggest a 9 1/2 lber. On Thursdays p m trip Scott Rever of Basking Ridge took the pool with a 6 1/2 lber. Here are a few photos. Thanks

Fishing on Sunday had alot to be desired with a pick on shorts and just a few keepers. My cousin's daughter Molly Hagaman of Toms River showed the guys up by tking the pool. Saturday 8/6 was much better with about 40 keeprs in the A M and 20 in the P M. The days before had fair fishing but a few nice fish mixed in.On Friday, Johan Schreier of Suffern N Y got this 6 lber. Here are other pics from earlier in the week like Bob Sabo of Carteret 6 1/2 lber and Wayne Turner of N. Bergen. Also pictured is Jim Lee of Ft. Lee.

Picked away in the morning on shorts with an occasional keeper mixed in. The pool winner, and first keeper over the rail, was caught by Karen Edwards of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The afternoon action wasn't as good, but the couple of keepers that were caught were of good size. Pool winner was Keith Connoly of Atl Highlands at 6 1/2 lbs, and the runner up was Sean Kozick with a 4 1/2 lber.

We had good fishing on Thurs A M trip but only picked on the P M trip. Vinny Fahrion of Toms River took top honors On the A M trip with this 6 lber. Since then the fishing is still ok but the number of keepers has decreased . The short action for the most part is still good depending on the drift conditions. Sat. A M Mike Vincenzo from Staten Island caught his pool fish after catching himself first with a hook in the finger so he deserved that fish. Sunday A M Jimmy Lee of Fort Lee took the pool with this beauty. Thanks for looking in.

Had two good trips today along with a good showing of people. What usually happens is when a boat has a good gang the fish do not cooperate , that wasn't the case. Picked away all day with keepers all around the boat with both experienced and novices catching fish. Both spros and bait worked good but we are finding that the gulp bright green baits help. Joe Murphy of Aberdean took the pool on the last drift with this 8 lber. Pool fish have been averaging 5 to 8 lbs lately. Looks like good conditons for Thurs so hope we can do it again. Had a fair morning with very slow drifting conditions, but we ended up with good action at the end. Jim Guito of Atlantic Highlands took the pool with a 6 lber and junior angler Lee Samuels of Navesink came in second with a 3 lber. In the afternoon we had much better fishing, catching over 50 keepers. Jim "Zeke" Jackson of Bloomindale took the pool with a nice 8 lber. Also pictured are John Mundjer of South River, Jason Grasso of Highlands, and Dennis McGinnis of Middletown with pool contenders.

We had decent fishing in the morning and very good fishing in the afternoon. Jimmy and Kieth Guito had 6 keepers to 7 1/2 lbs with Jimmy taking the pool. John Mundjer had a 6 1/2 lber with 2 other keepers and Jared Goldy from Mt. Laurel had a 6 1/2 lber. The afternoon though the fishing really turned on. Chris Kelly from Toms River got the pool with a 6 lber and had 6 other keepers. Biff Pein of E Brunswick had 6 nice keepers and Roger Lee of Parlin took his limit out of the ten keepers he caught.

Had an ok morning with Harry Tran of Parsippany taking the pool with a 5 1/2 lber and Joe Asfore of Clifton catching 2 to 5 lbs. The afternoon however was great and one of the best trips of the year with a small group of anglers catching over 50 keepers. Joe Asfore came back out to get 4 more keepers and here are some more catches. Pat Lamb of Springfield 4 to 3 1/2 lbs, Gene Peters - Easton PA 3 to 5 lbs, Roger Lee of Parlin 6 to 5 lbs, Mike Strifler -Long Valley 7 to 8 lbs and the pool, Lou Riccardi 7 to 6 1/2 lbs and Jeff Mathis of Staten Island 8 to 7 1/2 lbs. These are only the keepers they caught.

We had a few more nice fish the last couple days although the fishiing overall slowed down. On Weds Mark DePasquale Pictured with Nicole Courtney took the pool with an 8 lber. Wayne Turner continues his streak of catching a couple of nice keepers per trip with a 3 1/2 and a 5 1/2 lber that day also. That afternoon Ralph Carloni of Leonardo caught a 4 1/2 and a 6 1/2 lber. Nice going guys.

Tue 7/19 and last few days

Fishing seems to be slowing up in the bay so we may start venturing out in the ocean. Just few keepers last 2 days with ok short action. On Sunday Wayne Turner of N Bergen took the pool with this 6 lber and on Monday 7/18 Arnie Goldblatt of Clark landed a nice 8 lber almost the the whistle for going in on the morning trip. Bring down some heavier rods as we may go to deeper waters and use heavier sinkers when conditions permit. Thanks, see u soon.

We have been catching some nicer fish the last two days but the number of keepers are not as good as we like. On Fri. A M trip Mike Gussovak of Dunellen took the pool with a 5.5 lber. On Sat. John Leone got 3 keepers up to 3 lbs, Earls Mom Jean Farwell a 4 lber, Ken Fraiman of Edison a 5 lber and the topper for the week was Jeff Mathis of Staten Island with 5 keepers on the morning trip in cluding a 5.5 , 6.5 and an 8 lber. which took the pool. He then came back out on the afternoon trip to catch 2 more keepers including the pool fish of 8.55 lbs. Hope he went home to play the lottery. We also drooped a couple of bigger fish so come on down and try and catch them. Here are some photos of the last two days.

Had a fair week with some adverse conditions like yesterdays wind in the morning but still managed to put some catches together with decent short action. Too much wind or having it in the wrong direction hampers where we can fish. The next couple of days look good though provided the ship traffic in the channel doesn't get us. July 10 fluke report

Had one of the best mornings yet with over 50 keepers and over 300 shorts on 2 drifts for the morning with one being 2 hours long. Pool fish was 7 lbs with a couple other contenders. The afternoon was also good but with a little less action. Even some youngsters got in on the fishing action yelling ' more dinner ' when they caught a keeper. Mike Tomasso of Linden took the pool with a 6 lber just beating out Bob Sabo, although u can't tell by the picture. Here are some of todays catch. Thanks for checking in. Capt. Hal.

With cooperating conditions we had some decent fishing producing a good amount of shorts and 1 to 3 keepers for some. In the afternoon we tried different areas then the morning with almost the same results but produced a coouple of bigger fish. Jersy Boys John Mundjer and Dave Fernandes simultaneously hooked these two beauties while fishing along side each other at the end of the afternoon. 8.3 lbs for John and 6.5 lbs for Dave, good job boys. Sorry folks that I haven't posted but the past week was hectic with the Red Bank Fireworks cruise on July 3. Here are some of the fish we caught this past week with John Mundjer of Old Bridge holding a 6.5 and 8.7 lbers he caught on one drift ten minutes apart. Also from that town is Mike Desantis with a 7 lber. (teacher) Bob Sabo with a beauty and Bob Caputo holding 2 of the few he caught that day.

Had decent fishing the last 2 days with a few nicer fish coming aboard. On tues morning George Gackstatter of Chester hit a 5 3/4 lber but later on was beaten out by Chris Paskewich of Roselle Park with a nice 9 lber. Afew other nice fish were caught working a small area we drifted over. In the afternoon we made a long drift in the reach with nce conditions and pulled up 2 six lbers, one by Art Hoover of Sayerville and another by Ms O'Niel who barely beat Art s fish. Here are a few photos of that trip. One Wed the morning started slow but we ended up in good shape with more keepers than we thought we had. The afternoon conditions however restrained us to one area of the bay and the keeper count was reduced. Looks like a another nice day today so we hope to see u on board.

A very nice morning weather wise after the previous two but with little wind and current we did not have any drifting conditions until the last hour. We caught most of our fish then including the pool winner 5 1/2 lbs by Austin Kievit of Livingston and a 5 lber by Jackie Burger of Pompton Plains. Much better drift in the afternoon gave us lots of short action and a good amount of keepers. Lou Riccardi of Matawan was high hook with 5 keepers to add to his two for the morning trip. Dave Fernandes had a 5 lber and John Mundjer a 4 1/2 but not good enough to beat the 6 1/2 lber by Ron Marchee of Manahawken N J. Here are some of todays photos.

The last two days the weather has not been good and we were confined to the bay. However yesterday morning Bob Caputo of Lawrence Harbor did catch 7 keepers but didnt get the pool fish. Earlier this week Dan Ogelvie of Piscatawy got the pool with this 5 1/4 lber and the big fish for the week was 8 1/2 lber by Rich Mastriani of West N Y N. J.. Here are some more photos of the fish.

The past weekend the mornings were very busy for the boats because of fathers day but on the afternoons the crowds were much less. Sunday afternoon we long drifts in the bay with good conditions. We picked at shorts and some nice keepers also came up. Here are a couple of youg ladies who came with their dads and showed them how to catch keepers. Jade Scharnikow (9) of Piscataway took the pool on her first fluke trip and Laura Scheid of Trenton also caught a beauty. Good job ladies.

Fishing seems to stay the same with good short action and some nice keepers mixed in. The weather, the winds that is, sometimes make it hard to fish where we want. We have been fishing the channel by the point of Sandy Hook as well as the Raritan Reach channel and the flats by the Navy pier. On Monday ten year old Fran Duffy of Allentown PA showed up his grandfather as well as some other experienced fishermen by catching 2 keepers including the 6 lb pool winner. The weather looks good the next few days so we hope to see u soon. Here are some recent pictures from Friday to yesterday.

Hi everyone. On Friday 6/10 John Mundjer of Old Bridge managed a 6.80 lb pool winner along with a few other keepers and lots of shorts. John Doll of Middletown was high hook with 5 keepers and here are some pics of the two Johnnies and their catch. In the afternoon we looked in another area and found some nice fish but we lost the drift. A young asian man whose name we didn't get took the pool that afternoon. On Sat. 6/11 we had bad conditions with lots of east winds and cool temps but got a catch together in the bay of about 25 keepers and lots of short action. Fluking with the Deck Girls

On Thursday, June 2, several of the ladies from On The Deck joined us for a morning of fluking. Conveniently located a short walk from the Sea Tiger II, On The Deck is a great spot to grab a bite to eat & some refreshment before or after a fishing trip. Hi everybody, I have been a little lax on the reports but the fishing is getting better and now we are seeing a few bigger fish. Of course its a daily thing with days of good drifting condions in the right places making all the difference. The last two afternoons were productive with Boris Kogelman of Manalapan cathing a 7 3/4 lber but he was not in the pool but Ricardo Rodrigez of Cliffside Park was and caught a 5 1/2 lber to win the pool that afternoon. Yesterday morning Mike Vivenzo of Parsipany won with a 6 1/2 lber. Saturday afternoon was all Jersey Boys catching a good portions of the 30 keepers we had for the p m trip. Hi everybody. Haven't posted in a few days but the fishing is status quo with the morning trips producing more keepers than the afternoon. We now have some nice warmer weather coming the next few days which should warm the waters and bring up the temps as well as allow us to fish other areas. May 19 report - bigger fluke move in

Had two nice trips today after having two days off. Although there wasn't alot of keepers this morning there was better quality. Frank Bettler of Allentowen PA caught a 6 lber abut was beaten by Nate Chudy of
Flemington NJ with a 9.83 lber. In the afternoon with only a handful of patrons, mate Earl Farwell of Atlantic Highlands started with a 6.25 lber on the first drift and on the last drift Art Hoover of Sayerville won the pool with another 6 lber, way to go boys. Action was decent with the shorts and we actually ended up with more keepers in the afternoon with half the patrons than the morning. Should be an interesting weekend if this pace keeps up. 5/17 fluke update

Haven't posted in a while but there has not been much to report since opening day. The fishing seems to stay the same with morning trips out producing the afternoon trips since only a few areas are holding the fish. The weather lately has limited us to fishing the bay and the cool temps are not helping the water to warm up and draw more fish in. Still trying to get out every day but today we didn't and tomorow does not look good either. FLUKE May 7 opening day report

We were pleasantly surprised today with the early season opening and the cold weather we have had. Caught about a hundred fluke with over 30 being keepers on the morning trip. Top honors went to Jimmy Lee of Palasaides Park N J with 5 keepers for the day and John Mundjer of South River caught the first keeper of the season. The afternoon trip was not as productive with lousy drifting conditions but we did manage a 6.3 lber by Chris Ferry of Frenchtown NJ. Hope the Fluke keep coming and it gets better. The last couple of days we have only seen fair fishing over all. Slow fishing on Sunday morning with better fishing in the afternoon. Monday and Tuesday mornings were on the slow side with the better and lucky fishermen or ladies getting most of the action. Tues afternoon started out slow but then the fish turned on and we had a nice bite for a little while including an 18 inch winter flounder. I think the highlight of the safternoon was when Mike Kushwara of Port Monmouth NJ yelled "my first striper after 50 years". We were all surprised and happy. He then went on to get his limit and missed a couple others. A fun afternoon despite the cold 20 mph south wind. Looking at his picture though u wouldnt think he was happy. Only a few more days to Fluke.

A nice showing of people for all the boats but the fish decided to be a little elusive and not as hungry. Tough morning with strong currents which made it difficult fishing with the larger group since most of the action was in the back of the boat. Did manage a few keepers and some shorts in the morning but had a better fishing in the afternoon. A young man and his buddies came out for his birthday and had a blast catching some keepers and shorts on what turned out to be a beautiful afternoon.

The afternoon was not as good as the morning but we did manage a decent catch of fish working 2 different areas. Few limits were caught including Hunter Wright of South Carolina and Dennis McGiness of Middletown who also won the pool.

We had a good morning with a small gang fishing one drop and picking fish the whole time. High hook was Mat Guerin of Middletown NJ with 6 keepers and his buddy John Doll also had 3 keepers. Mike Gutierrez at only 12 years old of Garfield managed 4 keepers and the pool fish of 17 lbs. Good job Mike. Everyone went home with fish and memory of a good time. See pics.

Had a very nice morning limiting out clamming with a handful of customers. Dr Lou Commenducci took his limit out of 5 keepers, and everyone went home with fish. The afternoon wasn't as productive, but we did manage a few keepers.

Had a very good morning that started out slow but we ended up limiting out with keeper stripers on clams. The afternoon unfortunately was not as good as we pick a few keepers in a few different spots. The hard and cold south wind did not help but most still had a fun time. The striped bass fishiing has been on and off. seems like the couple of days that we had a good crowd on the boat the fish didnt want to cooperate. Afternoons the past week have been much better with the outgoing tide although Monday morning was good as we caought the last of the outgoing and picked at some nice keepers to 24 lbs and a few shorts. I will do a recap of the past weeks fishing later today with some nice photos. Hope to see u soon as we will be switching to fluke on May 7.

We decided to switch to striped bass today with the lack of participation on the flounder fishing. Had a nice morning with a couple of limits and decent action with the shorts including a 5 1/2 lb blackfish by Bob Sabo who also won the pool with a 14 lb striper. Lou Leopold was one of the high hooks with 2 shorts and 2 keepers. We plan to stay with the spripers for now.

Thurs 4/14 flounder report

The water temps finally got into the 50 s and the flounder turned on a little on the morning trip but not enough fares showed for the afternoon trip. Couple of the guys took their limit out of 4 keepers and there were enough keepers to limit out the number of fares fares on the boat. A slow steady pick all morning was enough to stay put on one drop. We will stay with the flounder untill some other species improve within our reach on the half day schedule.

We fished the river with better temperature today and saw an improvement. On the morning trip we had some keepers and a couple of shorts for a small group of fisherman. The afternoon trip we picked a couple of fish in the river then decided to try a drop out by the navy pier which didnt pan out. We should start seeing more fish with warming temps the next few days.

With flounder fishing off to a slow start we will go looking for some bottom fish - ling , cod and blackfish out in the ocean. Since it will only be a half day trip will be limited as to how far we can go but hopfully it will be an improvement over the last coulple of flounder trips.

Hi every body. Well the fishing today was fun with a small group of regulars and Jimmy Lee bringing a big pot of sausage, peppers and onions which we heated in a crock pot. The catching on the other hand was not. The water temps were cold, about 40 in the harbor and got up to 42 in the river with muddy conditons. Even though we did catch a tide change we only had a few bites and missing worms. We will try again today but with cold temps last nite i dont expct much change in the fishing. We will start daily sailing on friday April 1. Hope we start to have an improvement.

Hi everybody, havent posted in a while but we are still trying to sail daily weather permiting. We had goood fishing the last two days doing it one one drop on Friday and had to work a little harder by making 3 drops on Saturday. Everybody went home with fish and some with limits. Bob Sabo (teacher bob) took top honors with a 9 lber on Sat. Should be able to make it out tomorow but Mon. and Tue. look like a little windy. Please call ahead if your not sure of the weather. Still a pick with the blackfish. The more experienced blackfishermen are catching their limits or better, but mostly everyone is going home with fish. Just a reminder that our Thanksgiving Day Blackfish trip departs at 7:30 AM and returns at 1:00 PM.

Didn't get a chance to report yesterday but had very good fishing on thursday with Jimmy Lee taking his limit out of 18 keepers and a number of shorts. Everybody went home with fish.

Today the same area did not produce as well with windy conditions making anchoring a little more difficult. We bounced around the area with some success, and finally tried one more drop further offshore that made the day.

Don't forget our Thanksgiving Day special blackfish trip. Departing at 7:30 AM and returning at 1:00 PM.

Good blackfishing for opening day. Several people with limits, and at least 4 fish over 6 lbs. Mike Bieda of Cliffwood Beach was today's pool winner. We won't be sailing tomorrow with the wind forecast, but the rest of the week looks nice.
