Sunday 9/28 Now bottom fishing

We are now fishing for porgies and blackfish(only allowed one) and had a nice morning picking away on each spot we fished. Hit one spot that was loaded with sea bass that  had to be returned but everyone went home with fish with the high hook being about a dozen to fifteen fish. On the afternoon trip we also had a high hook of a dozen or so but not everyone caught.  Thought we would have had a much better turnout with the beautiful weather but  I guess people had other things to do. Nice day today so hope to see you later but watch the weather later this week as some more northeast winds are coming.

Weds 9/24 and Fri 9/26 Still some around

Not all the boats went out on Wednesday and we were the only one out in the afternoon. On the Morning trip Bill Bergen almost got his limit boating 4 keeper fluke and taking the pool, his best trip this year. The wind picked up in the afternoon against the tide so it got a little rolly but we caught a few fluke and small blues.  No one sailed on Thurs and not all the boats tried to sail on Friday but we did. Very tough fishing after Thursday's blow but we did pick a few shorts and settled the pool in the morning. On the afternoon trip we picked a few more keepers and shorts with a high hook of 2 by Pete who came back out to get revenge and did. Here are a few pics and don't forget Saturday 9 /27 is the last day for Fluke and we will be switching to half day bottom fishing for porgies and blackfish on Sunday.

Mon - Tuesday 9/22 & 23 reports

We were one of the few boats to get out on Monday with the strong NW winds and not many coming down to fish. Managed a few keepers both trips fishing mostly down the beach to get out of the wind but we did do our share of rock and roll. Tuesday, however, the weather could not be better with light winds and the roll from the weekend was gone so we had a nice catch in the morning getting more keepers than fares on the boat. On the afternoon trip the area  where we caught fish had been cleaned up and the drift got much faster with the incoming tide and southerly breeze but we did catch a few.  This morning should be ok but not sure about the afternoon with the east winds picking up. Thursday looks like a washout with rain and high easterly winds so stay home. Maybe see you on Friday or the weekend and if you are not sure give us a call.

Friday to Sunday Quality not quantity

We did not make it out Friday morning as most boats told their customers to go home with the  strong NE winds making it tough to fish the outside. In the afternoon a few showed up and with the wind easing up we took them out with Tom Grant of Bernardsville being high hook with three keepers and the pool winner.  All  the boats fishing one area on Saturday made it tough to put a catch together but we did.  Sunday morning we came across some real beauties and here are some examples. Pool winner Frank Vivenzio with a 8 1/4 lber, Wayne Turner 6 1/2 lber, Blaise McCarthy 6 1/2 lber(pictured with son), Pat Lamb 5 1/4 lber, and Len Bianchi 4 1/2lber among the other keepers we caught. Of course the afternoon was tougher but  Kenny Freyer pulled out a 7 3/4 lber for the  pool but only a few other keepers were caught. Here are the pics.

Tues thru Thurs 9/18

We did not make it out on Tuesday because not enough patrons showed up. Wednesday  and Thursday we did get out only to find the catching was not like we left it. Both days were beautiful with light winds and plenty of sunshine.  On Wednesday morning trip Mike Lewis took the pool with a 6 1/4 lber in the morning followed by Bob Steven's 5 3/4 lber in the afternoon. Thursday afternoon Al Lawerence took it with a 6 1/2 lber beating out Nelson Montero's 5 1/2 lber. Slow picking even with the shorts and all the boats fished the same area because the big ground swell from that offshore hurricane turned the fish off in the ocean even though you could not even notice it unless you looked at the beach or Roamer bar. Today the winds may make the fishing a little tougher but we will be there to see how it will affect them. We will stay with the half day schedule even after fluke closes (Sept 27), switching to bottom fishing. Here are a few pics.

Monday's Pics

Here are some pics from Monday

Sat - Sun- Mon Reports Big fish on the move

On Saturday we slammed with more East wind so we could not fish too many places but did manage to put a few into the buckets and did not make it out in the afternoon. On  Sunday morning a different wind from the north made it hard to keep the drift straight but we did put a catch together. On the afternoon trip however, the wind died and we had a great first drift as the Jack Cusati family  fron Allentown PA boated some real beauties including a 7 1/4 lber, a 7 lber, and a 5 3/4lber. The four of them  wound up with  6 nice keepers. Bob Case  boated a 5 3/4 lber, Vinnie Battista a 5 1/2 lber and Roger Lee a 4 1/2 lber. Later Chuck Merker, not working, boated an 8 lber.  On Monday the fishing was not as good but we did get a few more nice fish including a 9 1/4 lber in the afternoon by Joe Supczynski  one of the locals. Here are some pics from Sunday.

Tues to Fri 9/12 update

No boats sailed on Tuesday due to the weather and lack of turnout. We did make it out Wednesday  both trips and Thursday morning but fishing was slow catching only shorts and very few keepers. Friday was breezy in the morning so we could not fish where we wanted to till late and then caught a few keepers and shorts. On the afternoon trip the weather was much better and the fish started to chew a little. The weather does not look great today but we will be there to go and hopefully the seas do not build up  to shut the bite  down again. here are pics from the last few trips.

Sunday / Monday

Just fair fishing on Monday with some nice keepers and Just a pick of shorts. Pat Lamb again being high hook with 4 ks in the A M ad another keeper in the P M to give him his limit for the day. Albert Choe took the pool in the afternoon with his 6 lber. On Tues there was only 3 boats out cause of the forecast and it did blow out of the east. Boated only a few keepers and not many shorts but Bob Sabo did get two and the pool. No boats sailed today and tomorrow does not look good either so you may want to wait till Thurs or Fri to come down. Here are a couple of pics.

Sat 9/6 From calm to rough

It was a nice morning with light winds but the upcoming full moon made the drift a little fast but eleven year old Evan Vojta of Morris Plains still caught his first fluke and it was also a keeper that almost held up for the pool.  Woody Harmon got the pool with one of his 3 keepers as we worked different area looking for a better batch of fish. In the afternoon Pat Lamb was high hook with 4 keepers but the Pool went to Young-Seak Park who caught a 6 1/2 lber after the squall that took away some fishing time. Winds gusted to 50 mph with heavy rain so we just ran slowly into it until it subsided. Today looks nice so come on down.

Thurs - Fri report

The amount of keepers caught the last couple of days has gone down but we are still picking away at the shorts.  The afternoon winds have not helped making the drift too fast where we wanted to fish. Thursday afternoon we did manage a few nice keepers making long drifts with a small group. Here are a few pics.
