11/30 Report - Did it again

Watching the weather forecast for today we were not anxious to go out and told people as they got on the boat that it would not be nice, and it was not.  Had to slow down a few times on the way out and had a little trouble anchoring up but when we did get set we picked away again with quite a few nice fish.  Several limits including myself with fish up to 6 lbs and Pat Lamb taking the pool with another one over 6 lbs (on the scale not estimated). tomorrow looks ok but may not be that nice despite to warm temps. Tuesday does not look good and we will see what the rest of the weeks plays up to be. Here are a few pics of the day.

11/28 -29 back to back smacks

Got out last two days with just enough to go and had good fishing both days with today being very good almost limiting the boat out in keepers. Again limits plus on down but not very many on board, picking away all day. Sounded like most boats did not do so well today even with their heated hand rails, faster speeds and larger crowds. We have got to give credit to the boys yesterday braving the cold fierce winds to put a catch together. May be a little breezy tomorrow but with warmer temps and we will be there to go. Here are a few pics including the freedom tower in the morning light.

Tues 11/25 Good toggin

Just barely made it out on a relatively warm day for November and glad we did. There was a pretty big ground swell from the day before so we did not expect to catch much. We were wrong and got a good pick going from the start so we stayed with it and ended up with a nice catch with limits on down.  Only had to make one drop which gave us a lot of fishing time,  would  like to see it that way all the time. Here are a few pics of the catch and don't forget we will be fishing tomorrow returning around 12:30 to get you home in time for turkey dinner. Hope to see you soon and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Update to Sunday 11/23

Had a very slow week as far as getting out with the cold temps and high winds.  Sunday we made it out with a small group and had a slow pick on each drop until later on when the started to chew.  Just about everyone had fish to take home and everyone had action with shorts. High hook was Buck Bennet with his limit and the pool. Tomorrow looks ok but not Weds and we will be running  a half day trip on turkey day leaving @ 7:30 AM to 12:30 for $50.00 per person. Here are a few pics that do the fish no justice.

Sunday 11/16 Blackfish opening day

We got a nice turnout as did most of the boats and with it being opening day there were a lot of boats to contend with.  Fished a few different areas with the same results, just a sow pick of mostly shorts and some nice keepers mixed in with the experienced fishermen catching the majority of the fish. There were also a few sea bass in the mix and a ling. Since there has been a dogfish problem we did not want to put clams out.  Looks like we will not be sailing until Thursday or Friday with the winds and cold temps we  are having.  Hope to see you then and here are a few pics of  some of the catch.

Sunday 11/9 stripers

We got out with a nice gang but not crowded like some of the boats have been. First drift was a winner with a keeper and short striper and missed a couple. Caught a few blues after that and then headed east with the fleet (even the Belmar boats) to where they had good bluefish action the day before. Well it was not the fishing they had the day before but we pick at short stripers and blues on a few stops and then headed back closer to home and caught a couple more shorts before heading in. We will fish for stripers until the blackfish season opens on Sunday  11/16,  and then go from there. Here are a some pics.

Switching to Stripers

Got out today, Saturday 11/8 with only a few patrons so we decided to switch to stripers tomorrow  although it sounds like it was mostly blues.  The fishing was not what it was we only picked at sea bass most of  them went back and there were quite a few dogfish mixed in. We will do stripers until Blackfish opens on Nov. 16. Hope to see you soon.

Pics from Tues and Weds report

We tried another area on Wednesday and had a nice shot of sea bass and a few blackfish mixed in. Bounced around there and moved on to where we had been fishing with not much improvement. Just a a pick on porgies and sea bass, shorts and keepers and everyone went home with fish. No boats sailed today and tomorrow sounds breezy so we will do a striped bass special,  jigging in the bay and down the beach. If you can pick up some white shads and weighted treble hooks in case we come across some bass feeding on bunkers. We will be back to bottom fishing on the weekend. Here are the pics.

11/4 report - just a pick

Not the fishing we had on Friday but we did pick at the fish all day with a high hook of 8 keeper sea bass and a dozen porgies for Irish Kevin. Everyone went home with fish on a beautiful November day where one could fish in a tee shirt. Left the camera on the boat so will post some pics tomorrow which also looks to be a nice day. Hope to see you then.

10/31 Porgy pounding and update

Finally got out on Friday with just a few anglers and headed  out to where we have been catching them. The seas were not as nice as we expected but one we got anchored up it was nicer and the fish began to come up. Doubles and singles with drop down and reel up fishing with lots of jumbos. Several limits plus and we never had to move. The weather turned bad over the weekend but will be nice the next couple of days. The striper fishing has not really turned on so we are staying with bottom fishing for the time being. Here are a couple of pic, hope to see you soon. Weather permitting sailing daily @ 7:30 AM.
