june 23 2010

With decent conditions we drifted the back bay and channel picking at shorts and a few keepers mixed in. 8 year old Christopher Schaumberg showed up the more experienced fishermen by taking the pool and combined with his uncle and grandfather had 3 keepers. The afternoon conditions were not as good ie wind against tide, but Walt Abromski of Bridgewater did manage 5 keepers. Earlier in the week Roger Lee of Sayerville landed a 9.12 lb doormat on the p m trip of fathers day. Fishing overall has been dependant on good conditions although the keeper to short ratio is still low.

Friday, June 18

After a windy day on thursday which restricted where we could fish, today proved much better fishing in the channel. The drift was a little slower than I would have liked, but a few nice fish did come up including the 8lb pool winner by Greg Rickle of Saddlebrook along with a couple of other fish in the 6 and 7 lb class. The afternoon was beautiful with a light breeze against the current which slowed the drift too much.

6/16 Timing and Conditions Help

This morning's fishing was good with wind and tide together and it appears that a new body of fish have moved into the channel. Our first drift was a long one that produced almost 40 keepers and lots of shorts. The afternoon was not as productive, with opposite conditions. Looks like tomorrow's conditions may be the opposite.

Saturday June 12 2010 Starting to see an improvement

Its been a long week with a fair to good short action but only a few keepers. today however we did see an improvement in the fishing with two dozen keepers this morning with a 7 lb pool winner by Pat Mandeville of Wayne N. J. and about half that in the afternoon with lots of short action both trips. The afternoon produced a 4 1/2 lb fluke by Marilyn Rheingold of Parlin topped by a 8.83 lb pool winner by Lou Castellano of Washington Twsp. We are also seeing a little bigger spread of fish and hopefully things will improve some more. photos will be posted tomorow on our web site.

June 5 One week into the fluke season

Besides opening day we had one of our better days today with John Munger of South
River limiting out in the morning trip. He and the Jersey Boys fishing club combined for 17 keepers of the 30 plus caught in the morning along with hundreds of shorts. The afternoon was not as productive due to the fact the area was pounded all day long with the entire fluke fleet. Hopefully we will start seeing fish in other areas soon. Look for our upcoming pictures of stripers , fluke and the 74 pound drum caught.
